Morton Community Bank is the largest privately-owned bank in Central Illinois with over 50 branch locations and more than 600 employees. We are dedicated to our customers and to supporting and growing our local communities.

Our internship program will provide students with in-depth exposure to the inner workings of our corporate accounting and risk functions. Interns will be trained to perform real work in our accounting and risk department and will gain knowledge of the banking industry, corporate accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Interns will work on-site at our headquarters location at 721 W. Jackson St., Morton, IL, which serves as the hub of our accounting, finance, risk, and audit functions. Throughout the internship, interns will have the opportunity to interact with members of our accounting, finance, risk, and audit teams as well members of bank management. Students will enjoy the teamwork and comradery that comes from working together to support our local businesses and helping to grow our Central Illinois economy.

Purpose: To provide motivated college students the opportunity to learn and work in the accounting area of a growing commercial bank. This internship is designed for the student who is serious about pursuing a career in banking in Central Illinois after graduation.

Primary Responsibilities:
•Record financial transactions associated with a variety of areas throughout the bank
•Process payments and maintain records
•Perform daily and month-end reconciliations
•Assist in preparation of month-end financial statements
•Assist with internal control and risk related reviews
•Assist other related projects
•Attend accounting and finance related meetings and discussions
Requirements/Qualifications:
•College students who will have completed their sophomore or junior year with an anticipated 2025 or 2026 graduation date
•Majoring in accounting
•Minimum GPA: 3.0
•Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
•Detail-oriented and confident in a professional office environment
•Trustworthy in dealing with confidential information
•Interested in living and working in Central Illinois after graduation
Program Details:
•Summer 2025 (8 to 10 week program), from Mid-May to Mid-August, 2025, dates are flexible
•If interested, the possibility of continuing with part-time work during the following school year
•Paid internship: $20.00/hour, 40 hour work week
