The Dean of Education and Behavioral Sciences position is a 12-month administrative position that encompasses both leadership and administrative managerial roles. This role assumes primary responsibility and oversight of personnel, activities, budgets, and facilities in the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences, which includes the departments of Educational Foundations and Leadership, Counseling and Psychology and Sociology. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the successful candidate will boast a record of scholarship and research, a keen understanding of P-12/post-secondary education, and a successful entrepreneurial management style allied with a forward-thinking contemporary institution of higher education. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide leadership and direction for the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences. Assume primary responsibility for functions related to academic accreditation and communication with external agencies. Oversee the development and implementation of academic programs and curricula. Champion graduate programs, with attention to new student recruitment, student support, and graduate student completion. Foster a culture of research, scholarship and creative activity among faculty and students. Promote student success and retention through effective advising, mentoring and support services. Manage the School’s budget and resources effectively, including enrollment management and full-time faculty, part-time faculty and staff. Advocate for the School within the college and the broader community. Represent the school in administrative and academic matters including recommendations to Dean’s Council, Academic Council, President’s Staff, and student services regarding programming, student engagement and success, and program needs. Manage appropriate technology, pedagogy, modes of delivery, and student learning paths to advance degree completion and retention. Lead and inspire school faculty and staff in employment recommendations, evaluations, and professional development. Manage student, staff, and faculty relation issues within the school and address and/or resolve conflicts in a productive and fair manner. Participate in and/or lead other tasks as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Earned doctorate and/or administrative leadership experience in education, behavioral sciences, or a related field. Experience with specialized accreditation and facilitation of program assessment. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to foster strategic partnerships with regional stakeholders. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated record of teaching, scholarship or creative activities, and service in higher education. Experience with Education and Behavioral Sciences accreditation (CAEP, CACREP) and delivery of online/distance education programs preferred.
