Customer Service Representative I

A public sector organization in Las Cruces, NM, is seeking a Customer Service Representative I to support its Financial Services Division.
This is a contract position offering a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a professional and dynamic environment. Ideal for individuals with banking or teller experience, this role allows you to enhance your skills in customer service, financial operations, and records management while contributing to meaningful public service.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Interact with customers to address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide clear explanations of policies, procedures, and services.
- Process payments, calculate and verify fees, and manage account adjustments while maintaining accurate financial records.
- Perform data entry and records management tasks, ensuring timely and accurate updates to accounts, transactions, and documentation.
- Assist customers in completing forms and provide support in preparing reports, correspondence, and records.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to prepare and manage spreadsheets, communications, and internal documentation.
- Provide bilingual (English/Spanish) customer service to meet the needs of a diverse clientele.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and provide timely responses to customer and department needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive customer information and financial data.
- Must have at least 3- 5 years of experience in customer service, banking, or as a teller.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with customers effectively in both English and Spanish.
- Experience with cashiering, account management, or financial records is preferred.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of maintaining accuracy in financial transactions.
- Applicants must posses High School Diploma or GED
