Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Staff Communications Network Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a next-generation gateway. As a key member of our engineering team, you will primarily focus on coding in C and C++ on a Zephyr real-time operating system. This role offers the opportunity for 100% hands-on coding, with potential for growth into more senior or managerial positions in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a team of 5 engineers to develop a next-generation gateway.
  • Code primarily in C and C++ on a Zephyr real-time operating system.
  • Work on embedded firmware development for the gateway.
  • Utilize Java and Python for additional coding tasks.
  • Engage in 100% heads-down coding as an individual contributor.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and a passionate, motivated attitude towards the work.

Must-Haves:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience for a junior role and 7-8+ years for a senior role in embedded firmware engineering.
  • Proficiency in C and C++, with these languages being the main coding focus.
  • Experience with Java and Python programming languages.
  • Strong communication skills and a motivated, passionate attitude towards the work.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in video game coding.
  • Knowledge of Power Line Communication (PLC) used for communication between the gateway and microconverters.
  • Proficiency in signal processing algorithms, digital communication, and error correction techniques for robust data transmission.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC hardware and firmware development.
  • Familiarity with PLC standards, regulations, and certification processes.
  • Knowledge of power system communications and cybersecurity considerations in PLC technology integration.
