For more than 75 years, we have collaborated across technical and scientific disciplines to discover and develop groundbreaking products and technologies and bring innovations and ideas to the marketplace.
Responsibilities:
The Conference Services Event Manager’s primary responsibilities involve planning and supervising the activities within the Conference Services Department, including the cafe. Duties include interacting closely with executives and administrative staff to ensure seamless coordination of conferences and other events at SRI’s Menlo Park and Palo Alto campuses. Work closely and directly with the food services provider, outside suppliers, and project team in arranging event logistics for functions to ensure client satisfaction.
Serve as project lead on specific events overseeing all aspects of each event by establishing protocols and coordinating activities such as venue reservations, set-up, A/V, catering, security, signage, and managing vendors. Provide on-site event management and support as needed. Confer with clients before, during, and after their events, maintain a positive relationship and respond to inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience
Demonstrated success managing event teams and planning, developing budgets, and meeting budget goals
Excellent project management skills, the ability to manage complex timelines, and multiple projects
Maintain a consistently professional approach with the ability to work calmly and effectively when unexpected issues arise
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Sound knowledge of computer systems
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and juggle tasks simultaneously
Strong communication and attention to details relating to planning and executing of events
The ability to forge strong connections and rapport with stakeholders
Exceptional hospitality and customer service skills
Punctual, dependable, and dedicated to achieving operational excellence
Ability to work occasional evenings
The salary range is: $105,000. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
