Job Summary:

The Sales & Events Manager directly sells and plans the logistics and supports the execution of meetings and events for the Courtyard by Marriott Columbus OSU and the Grand Event Center. Includes Sales and Planning for select markets, primarily focused on Sports and Corporate markets. Communicates and Coordinates with other departments all pertinent information regarding groups' needs. Primary responsibilities include prospecting new business and implement strategies to maximize revenues for their markets, maintain effective management of the activities and bookings, respond to all inquiries in a timely manner, actively sell and up sell services to clients. Essential Functions: Responsible for Selling and Detailing select Markets, primarily focused on Sports & Corporate. Always maintains superb customer service with high emphasis on exceeding Clients' expectations and always providing authentic hospitality to each Guest. Ensures the accurate and timely flow of information, superior levels of performance and dependable and friendly service to external and internal clients. Plan, coordinate and supervise meetings and events, and guest room related activities (related to assigned group), to ensure the obligations by the Hotel and client are met with satisfaction. Lead site tours with contracted clients as well as potential clients. Coordinate all outside service as required for events. Develop action plan for prospecting new business and create strategies to maximizing revenue. Manage and develop the event and operational teams. Drive revenue and support sales efforts as directed by the Director of Sales. Maintain strong client relations and ensure that meeting/event specifications are communicated and executed for a successful meeting experience. Organize and conduct pre/post meetings with assigned groups. Act as liaison between the team and outside vendors and groups. Ability to multi-task multiple meetings/and or events simultaneously and at different planning stages. Identifies operational challenges/and or opportunities related to meeting and/or event and develops seamless solutions. Assist in the development of property policies and procedures as needed. Stay focused on all Sales objectives to ensure that the sales efforts are producing the annual Sales Revenue Goals. Other duties as assigned by Management. Work well with other Departments within the Hotel/Event Center to help provide quality service and communication to our clients. Physical Requirements: Associate must be able to sit in the same position for up to 8 hours a day consecutively. Associate may have to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Associate is often required to sit and use his or her hands and fingers, to handle or feel. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Associate must talk and hear. Qualifications: College degree or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum of 2 Years Sales and Event Planning required, preferably in a hotel capacity. Experience in Delphi is preferred. Experience in Opera and/or Fosse is preferred. Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mail Merges, Email and Web Searches. Superb organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multi-task, direct and solve problems effectively. Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks. Ability to stay current and fresh with industry trends to provide our clients with progressive ideas that have “wow factor” for their event. Must have a flexible attitude on working in this hospitality/conference center planning role and your schedule for evening hours and weekends when warranted.
