As the Project and Plant Engineering Manager for our Kerite facility in Seymour Connecticut, you will be responsible for all aspects of maintaining and growing our 500,000 square foot manufacturing plant. You will lead capital planning, assist in preparing capital budgets, and act as project manager on all large capital projects. This is a strategic leader within our Operations organization, providing direction and structure for optimized plant functioning and leadership to the entire plant maintenance team. You will develop and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, etc. to support Kerite's strategic direction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide direction and vision for smooth and efficient functioning and lead a facilities team for a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance for all plant engineering and maintenance operations.
  • Develop and communicate a clear vision for the department, establishing goals and performance indicators that align with the overall strategy of the business.
  • Plan, organize and lead all large capital projects. Prepare budgets for maintenance and construction projects, resolve complex issues, prepare reports on progress.
  • Oversee, plan and lead all facilities-related activities through management of the plant Maintenance Supervisor
  • Evaluate and recommend new capital equipment, with an eye on efficiency, automation, and safety opportunities.
  • Align with Director of Operations and VP of Operations on growth initiatives, capacity needs, and future planning.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and EHS stakeholders to ensure alignment and optimization.
  • Evaluate, gather data, and recommend new capital equipment and process improvements.
  • Coordinate with and manage contractors and other key service providers.
  • Assist with department budget estimates and costs of various repair projects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS

WHO YOU ARE
  • You have a four-year college degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, or other related field.
  • You have 8+ years experience in plant engineering, in a large facility or manufacturing related role.
  • You have 5-7+ years of project management experience in the construction or facilities management domains.
  • You are creative, entrepreneurial, and will thrive in a growing and fast-paced environment
  • You have the proven ability to lead a team of facilities and maintenance professionals
SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • You are highly motivated and can meet or exceed expectations with little-to-no direct supervision.
  • You have experience with and extensive knowledge of large manufacturing equipment, including design and capabilities
  • Excellence in technical writing and communication skills is a must.
  • You have experience collaborating across operations functions: Manufacturing, EHS, and Lean.
  • You have a high level of experience and understanding of OSHA regulations and requirements.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD is preferred.
  • Exposure to the Utility industry; technical knowledge of electrical utilities, distribution systems, products, etc. is a plus, but not required.
  • You have experience in the environmental regulatory and compliance domains.
  • You are a proven people-leader and can influence through direct and indirect professional relationships.
  • You have excellent analytical, time management and problem-solving skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to traverse property and facility to manage capital projects including climbing stairs, ladders, and catwalks.
  • Must be able to travel as needed to evaluate equipment and attend relevant training and professional development.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to work in a hot or cold environment as deemed necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds at a time.
