What You Will Do

The Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) Polymeric Materials group is seeking a Polymeric Materials Engineer. The engineer will work in a cohesive interdisciplinary team environment and will be responsible for evaluating and developing non-metallic materials and processes with a focus on elastomers, sealants, polymer matrix composites, and structural adhesives for jet engine applications.
  • Work with internal and external customers to define requirements, provide consultation, plan and execute tests, analyze results, author technical reports, and create and revise material and processes specifications.
  • Provide support in the transition of material and processes to production, provide manufacturing processing expertise to troubleshoot and solve technical problems, and provide support for continuous improvement activities.
  • Fully characterize and qualify new materials to meet our requirements.
  • Utilize a broad knowledge of industrial experience, preferably in the aerospace industry, with elastomers, silicones, sealants, polymeric matrix composites, or structural adhesive materials.
  • Demonstrate experience with polymeric material lab testing methods and function effectively in both the lab and the manufacturing environment.
  • The successful candidate must have technical, analytical, teaming, organizational and communication skills, as well as be adept at problem solving and have a high level of motivation and independence.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related field and minimum 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Advanced degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related field and minimum 3 years of industrial experience.
  • Must have industrial experience includes knowledge of industrialization processes with elastomers, silicones, sealants, polymer matrix composites, or structural adhesive materials.
  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts
  • Ability to obtain DOD security clearance & 10% Travel Required

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
