Position Overview:
At Raytheon Technologies, we are at the forefront of innovation in aerospace engineering. We are seeking a dedicated Polymeric Materials Engineer to join our Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) team. This role focuses on the evaluation and development of non-metallic materials, specifically elastomers, sealants, polymer matrix composites, and structural adhesives tailored for jet engine applications.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to assess and enhance material properties.
- Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to clarify requirements and provide expert consultation.
- Plan and execute comprehensive testing protocols, analyze outcomes, and document findings in technical reports.
- Revise and create material and process specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Support the transition of materials and processes into production, offering manufacturing expertise to resolve technical challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the materials domain.
- Conduct thorough characterization and qualification of new materials to meet stringent performance criteria.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience.
- An advanced degree in the aforementioned fields with at least 3 years of industrial experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrialization processes involving elastomers, silicones, sealants, polymer matrix composites, or structural adhesive materials.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contracts.
- Ability to obtain DOD security clearance and willingness to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in project engineering is highly desirable.
