Position Overview:
At Raytheon Technologies, we are at the forefront of aerospace innovation, and we are looking for a dedicated Polymeric Materials Engineer to join our Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) team. This role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to assess and advance non-metallic materials and processes, particularly focusing on elastomers, sealants, polymer matrix composites, and structural adhesives for aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to clarify requirements and provide expert consultation.
  • Plan and conduct testing, analyze results, and produce comprehensive technical reports.
  • Develop and refine material and process specifications to meet stringent aerospace standards.
  • Support the transition of materials and processes into production, leveraging manufacturing expertise to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the materials domain.
  • Thoroughly characterize and qualify new materials to ensure compliance with our rigorous requirements.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience.
  • An advanced degree in a related field with at least 3 years of industrial experience is preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of industrialization processes involving elastomers, silicones, sealants, polymer matrix composites, or structural adhesive materials.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contracts.
  • Ability to obtain DOD security clearance and willingness to travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in project engineering is highly desirable.
