JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Surplus Coordinator manages the operations of the Surplus Property program on the UTHSC campus. This position is the UTHSC campus subject matter expert (SME) for the Surplus Operations. This position ensures all furniture, equipment, and vehicles are disposed of in accordance with UT policies and UTHSC procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures all surplus items are disposed according to UT policies and UTHSC procedures.
  2. Completes and ensures full execution of Declaration of Surplus documentation.
  3. Assists departments, Space Planning and Utilization and Logistics in identifying surplus requiring decontamination.
  4. Coordinates the removal of surplus from departments with Space Planning & Utilization and Logistics.
  5. Assists Logistics personnel in unloading incoming surplus and loading out surplus that is being re-purposed on campus.
  6. Receives surplus into the warehouse.
  7. Sorts/determines distribution of surplus into various categories: Inventory for potential re-purposing on campus, on-line sales, scrap metal, eCycling or disposal.
  8. Manages the posting and sale of surplus items on the GovDeals website and UTHSC Surplus Exchange website; responds to questions from potential bidders regarding on-line auction surplus and assist winning bidders in loading surplus sold via on-line auction.
  9. Performs minor repairs to received property as needed, i.e. tightening screws, cleaning, touch up, etc.
  10. Performs various surplus electronics (eCycling) duties to include removal, sorting, loading, unloading items.
  11. Records Storage at Dudley Street Warehouse.
  12. Performs other duties assigned.


Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Associate's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of related warehouse, delivery, inventory work, or customer service experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of related warehouse, delivery, inventory work, or customer service experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic knowledge of a warehouse operation.
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Customer service skills to maintain effective working relations with campus faculty, staff and the general public.
  • Ability to follow instructions and the skills necessary to organize work duties accordingly.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments as found in Memphis, TN.
  • Ability to be flexible in work assignments and accept changes in duties and work assignments as needed.
  • General knowledge of and compliance of policies, laws, and regulations governing environmental protection, safety, hazardous waste disposal.


WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
