Essential duties and responsibilities include instructing aerospace, aeronauticaland mechanical engineering courses (e.g. Applied Aero, Aero Lab, Gas Turbines, RocketPropulsion, Aircraft Stability and Controls, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics), advisingstudents regarding academic issues, working with the Indiana Space Grant Consortium,serving the department, school, and university in the form of committee work and asneeded, and engaging in ongoing professional development activities. These ongoingactivities might include engagement in Engineering Education Research (ASEE), or workon applied research with undergraduate students or industry supported research incollaboration with Innovation 1, Trine University’s technological outreach center. Additional duties and responsibilities include to: Teach the standard faculty load of twelve (12) semester hours per semester or twenty-four(24) semester hours per academic year. Post and maintain a regular schedule of at least one office hour per week for eachcredit hour of instruction. Provide instruction (teach class) for the length of time listed in the official schedule. Prepare and grade a midterm and a final exam or project for each course. Provide each student with a course syllabus. Submit absentee and academic deficiency information to Academic Support Services viaTrine’s We Care early alert system. Assist students experiencing academic difficulties and deficiencies. Advise prospective and current students regarding course scheduling and curriculumrequirements. Providing mentoring and career guidance to students. Participate in developing or implementing the department strategic plan, as requestedby the department chair. Assist the department chair with scheduling and resource allocation issues, curriculumand laboratory development, and the collection, analysis and reporting of assessmentdata. Perform additional duties and completed assignments as prescribed by the respectivedepartment chair, school dean, and vice president for academic affairs. Education/Experience

The successful candidate will have an earned doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering,Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related field by thecontract start date. Appointments at the rank of Associate Professor may be considered depending on thecandidate’s qualifications.
