General Summary of Position

Job Summary:

As a Patient Service Team Coordinator at Medstar, you will be responsible for o vers eeing and coordinat ing all administrative matters relating to financial and personnel operations for a designated ambulatory practice department. The Team Coordinator will also oversee patient scheduling, registration, and managing patient overflow , daily functions of assigned administrative staff, management of office supplies, customer service and service recovery and workflow. Where applicable, may be responsible for assisting in supervising call center staff.

Primary Duties:

  1. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
  1. Acts as a backup resource for administrative positions in the practice, o ffers assistance as needed to ensure medical practice operations run smoothly .
  1. Serves as proficient superuser of IDX including obtaining referrals, scanning financial documents into the patient's account, collecting co-pays as well as collecting for self-pay services .
  1. Ensures patient registration and appointment processes run smoothly and efficiently .Responsible for daily scheduling edits and for master scheduling .Responsible for oversight and coordination to ensure provider schedules are filled, correcting double booking, and identifying patients who are scheduled incorrectly.
  1. Responsible for the training, education and mentoring of PSC staff on medical office procedures including the use of IDX and Med Connect.
  1. Serves as a liaison between patients and staff.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health care admin or related field preferred ; One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
  • 3-4 years in a health care setting, including experience in an ambulatory care medical office environment with extensive use of computerized schedules and electronic records . Working knowledge of IDX/GE centricity business preferred.
  • CPR Certification within 90 days required .
