Overview of the Role
As a key member of the Hospitality Services team, you will facilitate the meal selection, delivery, and service process for patients. Your role involves assisting patients with their menu choices on designated units, assembling meal tray carts, and ensuring timely delivery and retrieval of meals and snacks to patient rooms. Additionally, you will provide essential clerical support to the Hospitality Service Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize tray carts for meal service.
  • Coordinate with the Hospitality Service Office regarding new admissions or dietary modifications for your assigned units, delivering menus and diet awareness cards to patients, and returning completed menus to the office.
  • Process requests for and deliver NOW trays/meals, discharged trays, guest trays, and isolation trays, ensuring appropriate nursing staff sign-off prior to delivery.
  • Manage inventory and stock the hospitality cart and/or basket, and deliver bulk nourishments to units as needed.
  • Provide clerical assistance to the Hospitality Service Office, including answering calls and addressing requests and issues communicated by the unit-based Hospitality team.
  • Generate standard reports using the computer system, including meal tallies, diet orders, nourishment labels, patient meal tray tickets, and patient menus. Input patient selections and special dietary preferences for therapeutic diets.
  • Participate in departmental training sessions and may assist in conducting in-services.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
Experience
  • 6 to 12 months of experience in food service, preferably within a healthcare setting, is required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Capability to follow basic oral and written instructions.
