Position Summary: Life Cycle Engineering is looking for Naval Architects and Marine Engineers to join the LCE team supporting PMS 300 and 325 in Washington, DC. As a Naval Architect or Marine Engineer, you will provide support for the Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E); Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I); and mission equipment and systems installed aboard ships, boats, craft and targets, including Combat Logistics Force (CLF), Special Mission Ships, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) assets. Clearance Required: Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provide engineering/technical support for concept studies; feasibility studies; preliminary design activities; contract design activities; detail design and construction activities; independent design reviews; In-service ship design and engineering activities; shipboard installation support; and special studies related to ships/boats/craft, ship systems and/or shipboard equipment.
Conduct reliability, maintainability, availability, transportability, hazard, environmental, occupational health, safety, risk analyses, and other system engineering analyses. The Contractor shall provide reports, plans, and other substantiating documentation as required.
Facilitate and provide required technical information expertise to Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), special advisory boards, off-sites, working groups and audit teams. The Contractor shall perform research and work along with USCG, ABS, and other key stakeholders, such as, the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
Provide support in the development, analysis, testing and certification of materials and their application.
Review, maintain and make recommendations with regard to engineering plans, annual reports, program records, technical manuals, design histories, design configurations, databases, regulatory body and other documents. Required Education, Skills, and Experience: Bachelors of Science in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Transportation Senior Level Experience Required, 10 years Navy procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); Ship Operations and/or shipboard testing; Supervisory experience; experience communicating with Program Management Preferred Skills and Experience: Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, and SOLIDWORKS.
Sound knowledge of maritime software such as HMI and PLC control systems.
Familiarity with maritime HM&E systems and naval construction processes.
Experience with a variety of engineering processes including mechanical, electrical, and software.
Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Physical Demands and Expectations:
Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
