We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC, Huntsville, AL and Burlington, MA with an additional 36 locations across the U.S.Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mid Level Naval Architect to assist the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division's Naval Architecture and Engineering Department in achieving new or improved understanding in concepts and technology, fundamental and applied research of the marine environment, engineering and naval architecture, hydromechanics, maneuvering and control, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and training.JOB DETAILSLOCATION: DC Metro Area JOB STATUS: FTTRAVEL: 0%REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSSuccessful candidates will demonstrate
Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in one of the following Engineering disciplines: Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Marine (also known as "Ocean"), or Naval Architecture (also known as "Naval Engineering"). Naval Architecture or Naval Engineering degree preferred.
Approximately seven (7) years of verifiable experience participating in naval architecture.
Minimum Secret Clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSAbility to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities include providing naval architect support and analysis in the areas of structural design, cargo handling and lifesaving systems, weight and moment reports and calculations, stability calculations, inclining experiment support and calculations, hydrostatics, intact and damage stability reviews, arrangements, survivability, hydrodynamics (including sea keeping), and dry-docking studies. This work is performed across the entire spectrum of support including:
Hydrodynamics Engineering Support
Design and Development
Systems Engineering Support
Test and Evaluation
Modeling and Simulation
