Summary:
We are seeking someone with a strong understanding of GAAP and STAT and proven ability to drive streamlined processes from initial system implementation. We are looking for someone who is passionate about success and who has excellent partnership and collaboration skills. The person will have a strong attention to detail and be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities. The Accounting Manager will contribute to the financial success of the organization by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective financial controls.
Key responsibilities include managing the day-to-day accounting operations, overseeing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, internal controls and financial reporting functions, including month-end and year-end close processes. The Accounting Manager will also ensure that financial processes and systems are in place to support the company's growth and profitability goals and ensure compliance with insurance industry standards and regulations.
To fulfill the Accounting Manager responsibilities, You will:
•Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP and STAT financial statements.
•Maintain and enhance the general ledger system, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
•Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
•Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
•Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
•Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with corporate goals.
•Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
•Assist in the preparation of documentation and schedules for the annual audit process.
•Provide financial support and analysis for special projects and initiatives as needed.
Ideal Experience & Qualifications:
The Accounting Manager will have:
•5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of STAT and GAAP.
•Experience managing general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.
•Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain effective internal controls.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
•Proficiency with accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
•CPA designation preferred, but not required.
•Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a plus.
Personal Qualifications:
•A proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong sense of accountability.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•Strong leadership skills, with the ability to develop and mentor team members.
•High level of integrity and ethical standards.
•Excellent organizational and time management skills.
