Cashier
DEPARTMENT: Front End REPORTS TO: Front End Manager Wage range: $16.00 to $21.67 per hour
JOB SUMMARY: To perform cashier tasks with accuracy and efficiency while providing customers with friendly and helpful service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exceed our customers expectations for service and provide a welcoming environment for all in accordance with the Co-ops customer service standards.
- Receive payment and give change accurately.
- Avoid common errors related to giving change and voiding transactions.
- Enter correct departments and correct prices for products.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all PLUs and register procedures.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all store processes related to Front End operations.
- When not attending to register duties, front face in all departments, retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot, clean register, restock and clean bathrooms, or perform other side-duties as instructed under the supervision of the department manager or shift supervisor.
- Assist customers in establishing and renewing DFC Ownerships.
- Bag groceries appropriately when needed and perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Learn and use safe practices when performing job duties.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Wear proper clothing during shift including apron/vest or staff shirt, nametag, close-toed shoes and shirt with sleeves.
- Report safety/security concerns promptly.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts and be ready for work when shift begins.
- Assist customers as needed, including de-escalation of negative interactions
- Orient and be helpful to new employees.
- Set a positive example for co-workers.
- Participate in periodic department meetings.
- Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as specified in the DFC Handbook.
