Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst analyzes business and financial data and prepares financial reports to support organization decision making. The Financial Analyst will assist with preparation of the financial forecast and monitor organization performance against business plan objectives, complete monthly management reports and other standard reports, and assist with quarterly and annual shareholder reports. In addition, as a member of the accounting team the Financial Analyst will prepare general ledger entries and account reconciliations as assigned and participate in streamlining accounting and financial processes and accounting research. The Financial Analyst works on special projects requiring financial analysis, creating financial models, recommending appropriate courses of action and assisting with root cause analyses when needed.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting
  • Supports the completion of monthly management reports by providing requested data, and verifies the accuracy and completeness of data reported therein
  • Provide information as needed for quarterly and annual shareholder reports, and quarterly call reports
  • Prepares a variety of standard reports for internal use utilizing various report writing applications
  • Develops ad-hoc financial analysis for other departments, senior management, and Board of Directors meetings, as requested
  • Creates assigned reports and performs user acceptance testing to ensure accuracy
  • Ensures reporting and disclosure is prepared in compliance with GAAP and FCA regulations
  • Reviews and makes recommendations for updates to financial policies and procedures
  • Analyzes and interprets FCA regulations related to financial reporting
General Accounting
  • Prepares general ledger entries and account reconciliations as assigned
  • Participates in the implementation of enhanced and streamlined accounting and financial processes, while also collaborating on the development, implementation and ongoing management of new/enhanced systems
  • As a member of the accounting team, supports team members through accounting research when needed, while also ensuring alignment with FCSC standards, policies and processes; and compliance with regulatory and other related requirements
  • Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of accounting practices, products and key systems.
  • Supports the maintenance and execution of a strong internal control environment
Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Assists finance with preparation of the financial forecast
  • Monitors performance against business plan objectives
  • Identifies risks and opportunities related to each area of accountability
Special Projects
  • Completes ad hoc projects requiring analysis of financial and organizational data
  • Gather requirements, evaluate processes, identifies trends, issues, and opportunities and then recommends a course of action
  • Implements approved changes
  • Prepares root cause analysis of issues identified
Data Security and Confidentiality
  • Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association's systems and data and clients' data
Minimum Qualifying Characteristics:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting, including experience preparing financial statements; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) methods, practices and application
  • Ability to interpret FCA legislation Knowledge of internal financial framework and best practices General knowledge of Farm Credit Administration (FCA) regulations
  • Skill in preparing financial statements and writing reports
  • Skill in utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Skill in oral and written communication sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, management, other Farm Credit contacts and a variety of audiences
  • Skill in analyzing complex financial data by using logic and quantitative reasoning
  • Ability to exercise judgment as required for in-depth and complex problem solving
  • Skill in organizing material and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and understanding
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with a variety of internal and external organizations and individuals to advance the organization's interests and increase personal efficacy
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team development attitude and skills

Salary Range: $75,000 to $90,000.

This range is a good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of this posting. Actual salaries could vary and may be above or below the range as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2. Variation is based on various factors including but not limited to location, qualifications, experience, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions. In addition, benefits for this position include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, 401k, tax advantage accounts, paid vacation, sick leave and parental leave.
