Our culture of integrity, commitment, excellence and teamwork is what differentiates us from the rest.We're committed to being your Company of Choice®SCOPE OF DUTIESThe duties of the Business Development Representative shall include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:•Support the commercial department, in the development of strategies for establishing partnerships and business relationships for all Hornbeck Offshore Service solutions.•Provides support in deal negotiations, contract development, due diligence, and other business development or alliance development projects. Participates in related conference calls and meetings.•Seeks out and researches prospective projects through making phone calls, traveling, attending conferences, and utilizing the Internet.•Markets new and existing customers through creation, development, and presentation of new and innovative business solutions.•Manages relationships with various prospects, clients, and partners in the offshore transportation environment.•Estimates demand for proposed projects based on market research and consumer trends.•Collaborates with internal departments, such as Finance and Engineering, as well as external partners and allies in the development and implementation of strategies, plans, and business models.•Collaborates internally to develop and maintain long- and short-term pricing models in addition to other strategic financial models.•Assists in the development and presentation of various materials to stakeholders internally and externally •Confers with customers and customer representatives to evaluate and promote possibilities for improved and expanded business opportunities.•Provides input to the management team on new technology or service features to be developed to meet current and future customer needs.•Researches and learns new emerging technologies and trends.•Travels domestically and internationally in support of business development activities•Boards and rides vessels to increase understanding of how this role supports our business•Participate and/or host industry and client entertainment related events•All other duties as assigned by management.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, Maritime Academy Graduates Preferred.Experience: 6-10 years of operations and/or commercial experience in maritime or offshore oil & gas spaceSkills:•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. •Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. •Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.•Ability to get along with others.•Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. •Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.•Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.•Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.•Must be willing to board and ride vessels to increase understanding of how this role supports our business.COMPETENCIESProblem Solving•Anticipates the impact of decisions and actions on others•Identifies recurring problems and offers solutions based on facts and data•Seeks out expert opinion when making decisions and solving problems•Is thorough and attentive to detail•Keeps his/her manager involved on important issues and/or problemsWork the Plan•Achieves closure and follows through on tasks and projects•Effectively multi-tasks and efficiently manages time•Delivers a timely, complete, and accurate work product•Clearly communicates what he/she needs from others to get the job done•Follows established policies and proceduresInspire Trust•Demonstrates a strong service orientation to both internal and external customers•Takes personal responsibility for decisions and mistakes; Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound.Speech: Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.Mobility: Unencumbered by physical limitations to perform vessel survey and inspection duties, including: walking, climbing, crawling, lifting (less than 50 pounds), pulling, reaching and vehicle driving (automatic and manual vehicles).HOURS OF WORKStandard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am until 5:00pm and may be adjusted with approval by the department supervisor. Some overtime, work related travel and weekend work may be required, subject to company operational requirements.
