Reliability Engineer

Essential Functions
  • Conduct an analysis of reliability problems and investigate to determine the required reliability approach.
  • Determine cost advantages of alternatives.
  • Develop action plans that comply with internal/external customer demands for reliability processes/equipment to avoid failure and maximize reliability and availability.
  • Use DoD 5000, to develop analysis methods to determine reliability of components, equipment and processes for submarines and submarine systems.
  • Perform detailed reliability studies and calculations of component/system reliabilities.
  • Plan and perform engineering research, design development, or manufacturing/process engineering assignments, including responsibility for major subsections of complex projects using general engineering practices influenced by the general theme of reliability principles.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Secret DoD clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Ten (10) years of engineering experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in reliability engineering
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • DoD 5000, Active-duty Navy, and / or Navy acquisition experience desired, not required.
  • Engineering experience specifically with undersea warfare systems and/or Combat systems
Competencies:
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to all levels of the customer and company leadership.
  • Capable of effectively working and problem solving in both independent and team environments.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Excellent listening skills are essential. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. The employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and must account for the hours in a pay period to maintain full-time status.

Travel:

Up to 10% travel may be required.
