ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR, Life 107.1, KNWI (Des Moines, IA) The Engagement Director creates and executes Life 107.1 listener and community Engagement efforts, assists in attracting new listeners to Life 107.1, and deepens relationships with current listeners to help accomplish our mission of leading people to Christ and nurturing believers in their spiritual growth. What will I do in this position? Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop, plan, and coordinate all community and listener Engagement efforts, including the station’s community outreach events, concerts, contests, on-air promotion, and other station related initiatives. Build active relationships with vendors and community contacts, and in the process, be alert for potential Business Partner clients. Plan and coordinate all listener engagement activities including community appearances, remotes, and concerts, with a focus on empowering and equipping the Life 107.1 team to carry out such efforts. In collaboration with the Program Director and administrative staff, collect new names for the station data base at all community appearances, contests, concerts, and outreach events. Develop media relationships in Des Moines and central Iowa; issue press releases and promotional materials. Develop and nurture relationships with local businesses, ministries, churches, and community groups to increase the visibility and impact of Life 107.1 in Des Moines and central Iowa. Assist Station Manager with concert details and promotion as needed. Recruit for and oversee Life 107.1 Street Team (volunteers). Develop and maintain a promotional calendar for planning purposes. Create a friendly & welcoming presence to listeners at assigned events outside the station studios and, at times, outside normal working hours. Social Media responsibilities as needed. Ability to, or willingness to learn to perform a live or recorded fill-in or regular air-shift relevant to Life 107.1 target listener and provide traffic reporting. What will it take to succeed in this position? Minimum Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred Minimum of one year promotions/event planning experience required Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, kind, and tactful manner Ability to respond in a professional manner in time-sensitive situations Ability to work a flexible schedule as it pertains to special events Self-starter with ability to work in both a team environment and independently, without close supervision Ability to effectively communicate spiritual truths Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to complete projects accurately within predetermined deadlines Knowledge and understanding of programming clocks and schedules Knowledge and understanding of radio station and FCC rules relating to broadcasting stations Ability (or willingness to learn) to perform a live or recorded fill-in or regular air-shift relevant to Life 107.1 target listener and provide traffic reporting Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent public speaking skills Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment Work Environment: The work environment involves working for a suburban, Christian owned and operated radio station alongside those with a demonstrated commitment and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission and values of Northwestern and an agreement to abide by all University policies.
