Job Objective: Responsible for The Salvation Army's work in the Red Shield, County of Ellis, KS and all activities that it entails.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all office and administrative duties involved in operation of the Red Shield service center and supervise volunteers
  • Maintain all records and statistical information using appropriate database as required by the Service Extension Department
  • Coordinate all special/seasonal assistance programs as approved by the Service Extension Department. Including but not limited to Christmas Fundraising, Fan Drive, and Summer Fundraisers
  • Responsible for recruitment, orientation, supervision of volunteers and Advisory Council members to help carry out the work of The Salvation Army in the community
  • Act as liaison between The Salvation Army and the local community and other agencies.
  • Present a positive image of The Salvation Army and be available for public relations appearances and service on its behalf
  • Work with Service Extension Field Consultant to develop, maintain, and increase income from the service area
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Field Consultant and the Service Extension Department

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor degree preferred; Relevant experience, as determined by The Salvation Army, may be considered in lieu of education.

Experience: Business/office work, volunteer organization and supervision, leadership and team organization

Certifications/Licenses: None

Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and employee manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and paperwork
  • Effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to clients, community members
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in basic units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to operate office equipment and cash register
  • Maintain regular and punctual work attendance
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) is preferred but not required

Supervisory Duties: Supervise seasonal employees, oversee and direct community volunteers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Salvation Army policies and applicable laws.

Physical Requirements: Include vision, speaking, and hearing; sitting, standing up to six hours per day, and walking; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds; both outdoor and indoor navigation of settings. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job.

Travel: Occasional

Driving: Must possess a valid driver's license from Kansas. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Working Conditions: Daily work is performed in a typical office environment; may require some weekend and evening work. Event work may include indoor/outdoor venues and other public venues.
