Description

SUMMARY OF OVERALL PURPOSE

The HR & Safety Generalist works with the Vice President of Talent & Culture on storytellers trainings, engagement events and the delivery of full-cycle recruitment for Village storytellers. This position also collaborates with the Safety, Security & Compliance Director on the Village's security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety and security of all guests, staff, volunteers, and visitors on Village property.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

HR Training, Engagement and Recruitment
  • Collaborate with the VP of Talent & Culture on the development of comprehensive training content, implement/oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) of the Village and maintains all training records in LMS.
  • Deliver training courses as needed and coordinate training surveys.
  • Maintain and coordinate service, recognition and birthday programs: birthdays, Village-versary luncheons, Pancakes with Pam, and milestone awards.
  • Manage full cycle of recruitment (post, source, prescreen, schedule, background, references, offer, onboarding) for full-time, part-time, temporary, interns and volunteer storytellers.
  • Attend and participate in recruitment events for Village storytellers to include career fairs, job fairs, recruiting sessions.
  • Complete hiring process within defined metrics to minimize overall time-to-start.
  • Assists hiring managers with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews, etc.
  • Onboarding new hires ensuring full acclimation into new roles, conducts new hire orientations, maps out new hire schedules by coordinating with hiring manager to ensure smooth on-boarding.
  • Oversee and conduct Lunch and Learn sessions, safety training, and other various HR trainings.
  • Maintain parking program personnel data for full-time, part-time and temporary personnel.
Risk Management and Compliance
  • Participate in local advisory groups to keep abreast with all security-related information, directives, and events.
  • Conduct investigations on Village accidents, incidents and safety concerns and provides report for Director's review.
  • Ensure all required compliance documentation is current, including SDS, labeling, storage, OSHA reporting, safety signage, legal and employment requirements.
  • Maintain OSHA certifications.
  • Conduct semi-annual fire drills.
  • Conduct quarterly random chemical inspections.
  • Maintain First-Aid Kit order requests and ensure supplies are restocked.
Worker Compensation
  • Oversee the Worker's Compensation program, including claims administration, insurance administration, third-party claims administration, and return to work programs (including, but not limited to, light duty)
  • File and tracks all worker's compensation claims.
  • Follow up with storytellers to stay informed of progress and return to work.
  • Work with managers to accommodate light-duty restrictions.
  • Conduct safety walk-throughs at the Village with the Workers Comp representative and ensures follow-through on all matters listed in reports from the Workers Comp agency.
  • Files all required documentation in a timely fashion.
Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OUTSIDE NORMAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands and arms to lift/move objects.
  • Ability to lift and transfer 25 lbs. unaided.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends on and off property.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
Qualifications

  • Must meet acceptable attendance and punctuality requirements, which are essential functions for the position.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or at least 5 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recruitment experience in an office of comparable size.
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish.
  • 3 or more years of experience working in a similar organization, hospitality or non-profit experience is preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP, preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience as instructor/facilitator, preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Manager On Duty in a hospitality environment, preferred.
