Position Purpose: The Bookkeeper is responsible for specific aspects of the accounting function, including accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, cash management, and monitoring of costs and expenses. Yardi Voyager is used for most of the Property Management and Accounting functions. QuickBooks is also used for some Accounting functions.

Essential Duties and Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Work directly with the Accounting, Property Management, and Leasing/Brokerage teams, providing information vital to the decision-making process.
  • Oversee and participate in the processing of A/R, including rent statement preparation, timely tenant billings and collections and accounting for rent deposits.
  • Oversee and participate in the processing of A/P, including account coding.
  • Monitor cash balances and assist in timely cash management.
  • Prepare or review monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Generate Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Coordinate timely maintenance of monthly mortgage payments and debt service schedules, review of
  • mortgage statements and escrows/reserves.
  • Track property construction projects to budget as needed.
  • Assist with preparation of loan/reserve draws.
  • Assist in monitoring and procurement of tenant and contractor certificates of insurance.
  • Assist with timely loan compliance financial reporting and other required deliverables.
  • Assist with financial statement reports for property management.
  • Assist with timely filing of NM Gross Receipts tax returns.
  • Assist with annual operating and capital budgets for property managers.
  • Assist with annual Operating Expense reconciliations.
  • Prepare annual Form 1099 reporting.
  • Timely make all property tax and personal property payments.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required. Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Five (5) years bookkeeping or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • One or more years in commercial real estate property management desirable, but not required.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Proficiency in Property Management software a plus.
  • Event planning experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions without excessive guidance.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining an elevated level of professionalism and productivity.
  • Ability to bring positive, creative energy to the job, while being detail-oriented, and highly organized.
