Position Summary

Initiate and complete all transactions involved in the acquisition, disposition, and exchange of real property by the City. Assist with the acquisition of Right of Way and the leasing of real property by the City. Provide staff assistance to division manager.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. 

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business or related field; and
Five (5) years real property experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Possession of a New Mexico Real Estate License, Associate Broker or Qualified Broker preferred.

Preferred Knowledge

Principles and practices of real property acquisition/disposition Request for Proposal process Right of Eminent Domain requirements Advanced methods and techniques of research and data analysis governing real property acquisition/disposition Modern office equipment including computers Legal documents and contract language used in the acquisition/disposition of real property Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes, City ordinances, zoning, and regulations

Preferred Skills & Abilities

Review and approve a variety of real property documents Perform technical research within assigned area Negotiate with and counsel property owners or their agents Perform field inspections Prepare a variety of reports Communicate clearly and concisely Understand and interpret a variety of real property acquisition/disposition rules and regulations Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
