Role: Finance Team Lead As Finance Team Lead with LEAP, you will be an integral part of our finance team playing a crucial role in ensuring that the organization can achieve its mission by managing its financial resources effectively and efficiently. This position will project manage critical incentives within the Financial Department and in doing so assign tasks and provide guidance to 1-3 finance staff. This position requires excellent communication and time management skills and an ability to build productive interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers. Success Factors for a Finance Team Lead: The key qualifications to be successful in this position will include a strong understanding of and aptitude for financial principles, accounting practices, and financial management software. Individuals in this role must maintain the highest ethical standards and ensure that financial resources are used in accordance with LEAP’s organizational values and goals. The key soft skills used every day in this position will include meticulous attention to detail, strategic thinking/problem solving, dependability of schedule, working synergistically with teammates, and adaptability. Essential Skills and Talents for the Financial Team Lead: Strong Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze financial data, identify trends and patterns, and make data-driven recommendations. Communication Skills: The ability to interact with internal and external customers in a manner that builds rather than breaks down relationships and elicits voluntary assistance with requested deliverables. Adaptability: The ability to adjust to the constantly changing financial landscape and adapt to new regulations, technologies and organizational priorities. Financial Management: Experience in accounting and finance principles, practices and standards. This includes the ability to prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements, budgets, forecasts and reports. Core Tasks for the Financial Team Lead: Prepare annual budget. Oversee all Accounts Receivable including MaineCare as well as donations, grants and other sources of income. Reconcile monthly bank statements and investment reports. Implement the organization’s capitalization policy, scrutinize expenditures and maintain fixed asset subsidiary ledger which ties to balance sheet and books depreciation. Process financial statements for review by board of directors and department heads. Create and organize all year-end financial work papers and reconciliation for the annual audit. Participate in the statewide Financial Managers Group to keep current on updates to, changes in and introduction of industry financial standards and protocols. Position Profile: - Full-time, salary role. - No direct reports; however, opportunity to advance may exist for the candidate interested in a leadership role. - Typical Monday-Friday Schedule with infrequent weekend and evening work requirements. Minimum Qualifications: Education: - Required: Associate or higher Degree in Business/Accounting (related experience considered). - Preferred: BS in finance, accounting or economics. Experience: - Required: 3 or more years of accounting experience. - Preferred: 5 or more years of accounting experience with a non-profit.
