MEMBER SERVICE assistant energy advisor

MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC POWER, INC. - SUMMIT, MS
1 OBJECTIVES

To encourage the beneficial use of electricity and to educate the membership on the use of electrical appliances and HVAC systems.
2 RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs Personally the Following Activities

(a) Investigates and analyzes high bill complaints. Advises and assists members with problems and questions pertaining to the use of electricity. Communicates results to consumers. Explains various ways electricity can be conserved.

(b) Handles member questions and concerns regarding electric heating and air conditioning and home appliances.

(c) Promotes the cooperative's various energy services programs; provides consumers with information, makes recommendations, provides follow-up, and completes all necessary paperwork.

(d) Visits homes with high-usage complaints and conducts walk-through energy audits, using auditing software, as appropriate. Tests meters for accuracy, upon request. Follows up with letters and literature, as appropriate.

(e) Maintains complete and accurate records for activities associated with this position. Prepares monthly reports on results of member services activities.

(f) Participates in local Home Builders Associations.

(g) Promote and assist with Comfort Advantage Program.

(h) Assist with Annual Meeting as directed.

(i) Back up on all duties for the Manager of Member Services and Communications.
3 RELATIONSHIPS

Establishes and maintains the following contacts and relationships for the purpose of coordination and communication.

(1) Member Services Representatives - to inform and/or seek advice, regarding customer service center issues and concerns, referrals for energy audits, energy conservation, etc.
4 POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

(a) Must have the ability to conduct energy audits in members' homes.

(b) Must possess the ability to perform computer heat loss/heat gain calculations and other computer calculations as required.

(c) Must keep informed and advise others on heating and cooling equipment applications; weatherization and energy efficiency techniques.
5 PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

(a) Must possess the physical ability for bending, reaching, lifting, climbing, and crawling in confined spared as required to inspect consumers' attics, crawl spaces, and other areas of the home which may directly effect home energy conservation.

(b) Must be regular in work attendance.

(c) Must have a valid driver's license.
6 QUALIFICATIONS:

(a) College degree or post-secondary technical training preferred. Technical training may substitute for experience and/or education. Experience in utility energy auditing and marketing helpful. Ability to work with little or no supervision. Must coordinate own work schedule to best meet the needs of the cooperative its suppliers and its members. A combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted when competency in the role is demonstrated.

(b) Reasonable accommodations may be made to those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job. The incumbent must be able to pass any required drug test and new hire physical examination. The incumbent must be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.
7 SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

(a) Must be able to adapt to outside, uncomfortable working conditions - cold, damp, rural, dark structures, crawl spaces, etc.

(b) Must be an excellent written and verbal communicator.

(c) Knowledge of personal computer and appropriate software
