Job Summary

Magnolia Electric Power is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Energy Efficiency Specialist to join our team. As an Energy Efficiency Specialist, you will play a critical role in promoting energy conservation and educating our members on the use of electrical appliances and HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and analyze high bill complaints, advising and assisting members with problems and questions pertaining to electricity usage.
  • Communicate results to consumers, explaining various ways electricity can be conserved.
  • Handle member questions and concerns regarding electric heating and air conditioning and home appliances.
  • Promote the cooperative's various energy services programs, providing consumers with information, making recommendations, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Visit homes with high-usage complaints and conduct walk-through energy audits, using auditing software as appropriate.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records for activities associated with this position.
  • Prepare monthly reports on results of member services activities.
Requirements
  • Ability to conduct energy audits in members' homes.
  • Ability to perform computer heat loss/heat gain calculations and other computer calculations as required.
  • Knowledge of heating and cooling equipment applications, weatherization, and energy efficiency techniques.
  • Physical ability for bending, reaching, lifting, climbing, and crawling in confined spaces as required to inspect consumers' attics, crawl spaces, and other areas of the home.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • College degree or post-secondary technical training preferred.
Working Conditions

The Energy Efficiency Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to outside, uncomfortable working conditions, including cold, damp, rural, dark structures, crawl spaces, etc.
