As the Afterschool Site Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing program operations, guiding staff, and ensuring an enriching experience for children aged five (5) to twelve (12) with program hours beginning at 2:30PM and ending at 6:00PM. WORK HOURS: This is a salaried position with a weekly commitment of 37 hours. The hours are distributed as follows: 7 hours:

Administrative tasks, curriculum planning, meetings, and professional development. 20 hours:

On-site presence, dedicated to supervising staff and engaging with children in the program. 10 hours:

Collaboration within the school environment, to be coordinated in consultation with the School Principal. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide leadership and strategic direction to school age programs, ensuring alignment with the Y's mission and goals. Plan, supervise, and implement school age programs in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures as well as the regulations from the State of Vermont. Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum plans that cater to the diverse needs and interests of participants. Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment by adhering to established safety protocols and emergency procedures. Oversee Program Staff’s professional development and training to ensure licensing regulation requirements are met. Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train and supervise Afterschool Program Staff. Manage program logistics, including scheduling, attendance tracking, and equipment/material inventory. Manage all staff scheduling and present schedule in a timely manner. Submit budget and expense reports to accounting in a timely manner. Oversee and manage documentation and training for program staff using Bright Futures Information System (BFIS) and internal systems. Complete and maintain reports and documentation for program participants. Create weekly email communication to families and guardians with curriculum, snack menus, and recent program highlights. Collaborate closely with parents or guardians to establish effective communication channels and address any concerns or feedback. Build relationships with families, staff and participants through empathy, emotion management, and personal development. Be responsive and communicative to emails and phone calls from families, staff, and supervisors Host a minimum of three (3) Kids Night Out events or other specialty events per year, outside of program hours. Complete and maintain required professional development within the afterschool industry and according to Vermont licensing regulations. Including Mandated Reporting, Vermont Orientation, and First Aid and CPR. During the program, maintain continuous visual and auditory supervision of school-age participants to ensure their safety and well-being. Set monthly meetings with school administration to promote a positive working relationship and share program updates. Attend or host one community event quarterly in Y branded attire. Participate in departmental staff meetings and attend school-based trainings. Adapt behavior language to school policies and procedures. Participate in monthly focus committees and present materials at Director meetings. Work 10 hours weekly within the school during school hours to effectively engage with participants and collaborate with school staff. Be flexible and willing to substitute at other afterschool sites when needed. Flexibility to work two of four vacation camps which take place on Thanksgiving, Christmas, February, and April breaks depending on school calendar. Demonstrate and teach the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility throughout Y programming. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. At least ten (10) months of direct experience working with children ages five (5) to twelve (12). A minimum of an Associate Degree Management and/or supervision of staff, preferred. Demonstrate professionalism through actions, communication and appearance. Provide thoughtful leadership and mentorship to school age children through empathy, maturity, creativity and consistency. Ability to act as a leader to youth through demonstration of Y Core Values and Character Development Leadership Institute practices. Have reliable transportation for consistent attendance. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
