Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Supervisor of Operations Position

An Operations Supervisor coordinates all activities within the Operating Area that result in the safe and effective operation of Colonial's facilities and ensures the transportation and delivery of products to the satisfaction of Colonial's customers. Your chief objective is to achieve safety, system integrity and Operational Excellence by leading and managing employee performance and behavior toward the application of organizational programs, policies, and plans. An Operations Supervisor provides support for local operations, product movement, projects, maintenance, budgets, and other activities affecting local operations.

  • Coordinate and assign work schedules, time off, approvals, and daily responsibilities of Operators.

  • Aid in budgetary needs, including oversight of operational expenses to minimize cost and evaluate needs for the facility, develop estimates and submit proposals to local leadership.
  • Ensure federal, state local and company regulatory compliance through internal audits by assigning and monitoring responsibilities, as appropriate, to operations personnel.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) from an accredited educational institution.
  • Ideally, 5 years of pipeline operations experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record to drive company and personal vehicles to perform required tasks.
  • Ability to utilize effective leadership skills in guiding individuals/departments (subordinates, peers, superiors) or groups toward task accomplishment.
  • Broad interpersonal skills with ability to adjust communication style and can influence up, down and across the organization.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Operator Qualification and Colonial's processes.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:

Physical ability to respond to emergency situations. Work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions near refined petroleum products. Physical mobility to walk, sit, stand, reach, pull, push, and bend. Digital dexterity for operation of calculator, PC keyboard and mouse. Hearing in the normal range. Lift up to 20 pounds. Speak at a normal voice range. Climb stairs, vertical ladders up to 10 ft. and tank steps as high as 60 ft. Color recognition for control panel indicator lights and to analyze product colors. Normal visual acuity for reading VDT screen, pressure charts and control panel counters. Physical strength to open and close manually operated valves and pressure vessel (trap, strainers, and filter) closures. Must be aware of hazards associated with field facilities and oil/gas pipeline industry.
