JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of and reporting to the WEM Machine Shop Manager, the Production Support Specialist performs the following functions. Activities may also be coordinated with the Materials Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enter customer order into the computer system.

Price customer orders with standard part number and labor cost.

Enter work orders and bills of material as need.

Issue materials as required by the production process and close finished work orders.

Create weekly production schedule for Manager and production line.

Consult with Manager to adjust orders and schedule according to customer needs.

Perform clerical duties for WEM manager (i.e., typing, filing, phone answering).

Process customer order for invoicing to ensure timely collection of accounts receivable.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires education generally equivalent to 4 years of high school and 1-year related experience in receiving and stock keeping procedures and inventory control procedures. Knowledge of general or background in Machine Shop practices a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and written materials relating to receiving, stock keeping, inventory control and safety procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees concerning inventory control issues.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to make calculations and maintain and interpret charts relating to statistical process control.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: The employee must possess good oral communication skills to discuss inventory control issues with employees and work with customers daily. The employee must have a good working knowledge of computers and using a calculator.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: The employee must wear safety glasses and steel-toed shoes when working in proximity to production equipment and as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in proximity to fumes and airborne particles. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in outdoor weather conditions, and near sources of electric shock and sources of vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud while working in proximity to production areas and moderate while working in the Stockroom and office work areas.
