As a Metal Fabrication Specialist, you will be responsible for producing a diverse range of components according to customer specifications. This role often requires working overtime, including some Saturday mornings. The starting wage for this position is $20.57, with the potential for adjustments based on skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Setting up and operating various fabrication machinery (such as welding lathes, drill presses, and welders) to create component parts.
• Assembling parts in accordance with product blueprints.
• Interpreting assembly drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
• Executing fabrication and production welding on a variety of weldments, demonstrating a solid understanding of welding technology and steel properties.
• Selecting appropriate welding procedures based on the type of work and materials, ensuring that all welds meet standards for size, penetration, fusion, strength, and appearance.
• Setting up and operating production machinery.
• Conducting general maintenance on fabrication equipment.
• Contributing cost-saving ideas as needed.
• Tracking work hours using labor collection software.
• Adhering to all clean-up and housekeeping protocols, as well as complying with quality, safety, and workplace regulations.
• Operating lift trucks when necessary.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The following qualifications are required:

Education and Experience: A high school education or equivalent, along with at least one year of relevant experience in fabrication operations.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and written materials related to fabrication setup, operation, and safety procedures.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics for fabrication tasks.
• Common sense understanding to follow detailed instructions and solve straightforward problems.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints, along with experience operating fabrication tools such as hand tools, shears, hoists, saws, grinders, hand benders, drills, and punches.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this position require the ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The role involves frequent exposure to airborne fumes or particles, as well as working near moving mechanical parts and sources of vibration. The noise level in the workplace is typically loud.
