Bedford, United States HNTB Full time

HNTB Traffic Project Manager - Bedford, New Hampshire

Job Category:

Engineering Group Full/Part Time:

Full time Job Type:

Regular What We're Looking For:

Project Manager: The ideal candidate is someone who can both manage projects and lead/perform tasks in support of multi-disciplinary projects while mentoring junior staff. Typically, this is someone who is a Professional Engineer and has been in the industry for more than 10 years, currently acting as the deputy PM or PM on projects, interacting with clients, and leading traffic assignments. At our Northern New England (NNE) HNTB offices (South Portland, ME and Bedford, NH), we love what we do: From working on the most exciting projects, to being the leading engineering firm for many of our clients, every day will bring variety and opportunity. In general, our projects are in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont working for the State DOTs and the Maine Turnpike Authority – HNTB's longest running client, but there are opportunities to collaborate within the region and country. Above all else, we are looking for someone who is passionate about how the industry is evolving and wants to be part of the big picture solution. With that attitude, the career opportunities are endless within HNTB. On a day-to-day basis, we perform both the traditional traffic work common with our local industry such as intersection signal design, maintenance of traffic evaluations and corridor planning studies, and we also offer unparalleled opportunities to grow beyond those fields. Our staff can also perform ITS Design, toll and toll technology design, travel demand modeling, large data analysis and so much more – with a focus on the big picture and right-sizing solutions for client needs. Days will generally be a mix of meetings, traffic analysis, report preparation, plan development, project management, mentorship, and the unpredictable. Locally our office culture is in a great place: We have a variety of in-office activities like step challenges, cribbage and cornhole tournaments, game night, Sea Dogs games, harbor cruises and more. There is strong support for professional organization participation throughout. Our design staff sits on the exterior of our building, against the light-drenched windows, and the furniture in both offices has been recently upgraded. Family and outside activities are encouraged, recognizing that our work is just one aspect of life – from daycare pick-up schedules to preparing for running a marathon, we support your goals. The typical employee works in the office, spending some time in the field or with the client as needed for 8 hours between Monday and Friday. We connect regionally (ME, NH, VT, CT, RI, MA, NY, and NJ) – with our local regional office in the Empire State Building and an ITS lab in NJ – and with our 80 offices nationwide. If this sounds like you, or you are excited by the work we perform but you don’t see quite the right opening for your experience, apply through the portal – most importantly we are looking for good team members at any level. What You'll Do: Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA). Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Assists with client project scoping and contract negotiations. Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects. Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives. Performs coordination with managers on project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews. Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community. May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Performs other duties as assigned. What You'll Need: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience What You'll Bring: Industry knowledge of traffic signal, ITS, safety, toll and/or corridor planning with a desire to continue to learn as our industry evolves A willingness to work collaboratively to accomplish tasks and assignments The ability to mentor younger staff developing traffic engineering skills and clearly convey technical information to both engineers and non-engineers Desire to work within HNTB’s sophisticated processes, providing the client with HNTB’s signature 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on all project aspects including winning work, contracting, and managing projects Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills What We Prefer: PE License 10 years relevant experience Experience in industry standard traffic analysis tools - HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, IHSDM experience is a plus
