The Fannie and John Hertz Foundation seeks a detail-oriented and strategic Individual Giving Officer to help manage a portfolio of the Hertz Foundation’s leadership annual gift donors, in support of the Hertz Foundation’s first comprehensive campaign. This unique role is a new and exciting addition to the Foundation’s development team. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Individual Giving Officer (IGO) will play a key role on the Foundation’s development team. Working closely with all Foundation staff, the IGO will assume the crucial responsibility of identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding potential donors with the capacity to contribute $25,000 or more to the Hertz Foundation. Throughout the qualification process, the IGO will be guided and supervised by the CDO, working together to construct a targeted annual and major gift portfolio. The incumbent will be tasked with formulating effective fundraising strategies, managing a specialized portfolio focused on key markets, and creating personalized solicitation plans that secure both annual and major gifts aligned with the Foundation’s fundraising priorities. As part of managing a maturing portfolio, the IGO will also take an active role in soliciting leadership-level annual gifts starting from $1,000 and above. To achieve these objectives, the IGO will collaborate seamlessly with the Development team and other Foundation staff, community representatives, board and council members, and other Hertz Foundation volunteers. Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Maintain a blended portfolio of leadership annual and major gift prospects for purposes of qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding both prospects and donors Arrange in-person and Zoom meetings for prospects and donors, depending on geographic location within key markets Help Development team achieve both annual and long-term fundraising goals, established in consultation with the CDO, including cash and commitments, donor acquisition and retention, and capital campaign success metrics Prospect Management - 20% Manage a portfolio of 100-120 prospects and donors (including those for electronic engagement only) using Raiser’s Edge NXT systems for moves management Maintain Raiser’s Edge NXT records with an emphasis on updated actions and opportunities in accordance with Hertz Foundation policies and procedures Leverage digital tools like ThankView and Zoom to engage prospects Events - 10% Help organize small cultivation events, identify hosts and facilitate invitee outreach Coordinate with Development and Communications colleagues on pre- and post-event communications needs Other Support - 5% Coordinate with CDO’s portfolio of fundraising work as appropriate and assigned Education and Experience

3-5 years’ relevant fundraising experience A working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge/NXT and Microsoft Excel Proven record of accomplishment in a position requiring independent planning and problem solving, and the effective utilization of time and resources Ability to use shared project management tools This is a remote position with travel required up to 30% of the time with occasional nights and weekends. The Hertz Foundation is headquartered in Pleasanton, CA.This role will be performed remotely, with preference for candidates located in the Boston or New York metro area. All technology required for this remote role will be provided. In addition to donor visits in key markets, occasional travel will be required for all-team staff meetings, biannual meetings of the Board of Directors and the annual Summer Workshop for all Fellows, generally held in July or August in varying locations across the U.S. and North America. Benefits include sick time and vacation accrual, holidays, and an annual contribution to a SEP-IRA established for the employee. Another benefit of working at the Hertz Foundation is time off during the holiday season (typically the last two weeks of December). As a member of the Development Team, the Individual Giving Officer should be accessible and available for urgent donor-related matters during this period, within reason, outside of recognized holidays.
