Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a strategic pipeline aimed at securing a minimum of one million dollars annually in philanthropic contributions through the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors.
  • Conduct face-to-face visits to assess donor capacity, inclination, and passions for specific areas of support.
  • Coordinate campus visits, tours, cultivation events, and meetings for assigned prospects or project/regional areas.
  • Prepare clear and strategic briefing materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to engage prospective donors effectively.
  • Create both customized and standardized proposals, correspondence, and reports that are compelling and accurate.
  • Monitor fundraising progress, manage the donor pipeline, and track activities related to lapsed and new prospects within your portfolio.
  • Familiarize yourself with institutional fundraising priorities and understand the case for support for each initiative.
  • Develop tailored strategies for each major gift donor in your portfolio to guide your engagement and travel plans.
  • Utilize alumni relations events to enhance philanthropic strategies for major gift donors.
  • Build a network within regions to promote engagement and facilitate philanthropic cultivation.
  • Coordinate stewardship efforts for assigned prospects.
  • Work collaboratively within the Advancement team and across departments.
  • Document donor visits promptly in the designated CRM system.
  • Perform additional development-related duties as required.

Travel Requirements: Extensive travel is necessary within the state, with a focus on regional engagement.

Work Schedule: Evening and weekend work may be required as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of higher education/non-profit fundraising, including advanced fundraising techniques and donor relations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Teams, Outlook, and Excel; familiarity with CRM systems, preferably Raiser's Edge.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Experience: Two to four years of direct experience in annual giving or major gift solicitation, prospect management, or a related field.
