Position Specific Responsibilities The position of Custodian is responsible for completing cleaning and stocking duties in assigned areas and may require the operation of technical equipment. Promotes “Green” cleaning and maintenance in day-to-day tasks and practices to advance healthier work environments. Summary of Responsibilities Performs specialized custodial services, such as maintenance and repair of custodial equipment, floor cleaning and finishing equipment, carpet and upholstery maintenance equipment. Essential Functions Maintains and performs minor repairs on custodial equipment, such as vacuums, floor and carpet cleaners, etc. Completes basic maintenance on floor care equipment. Researches sources and specifications to order parts for equipment repair and maintenance. Performs specialized custodial services such as floor cleaning and finishing, carpet and upholstery maintenance, cleaning building furnishings and/or procedures using specialty cleaning chemicals. Utilizes cleaning machinery such as scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors for floor care maintenance. Provides all floor care services including strip, wax, carpet cleaning and may provide disaster recovery for affected flooring. Cleans and services assigned areas in University buildings and maintains sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of these duties. Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks and entryways as required. Commitment
