Chief Information Security Office Volunteer

**Volunteer Summary**
The TechQuest: Empowering Future Innovators high school volunteer program will provide valuable learning opportunities and exposure to different areas of technology and state government as outlined below:

- Learn how the tracking and delivery of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and information is received by DIR to relevant stakeholders via the Texas Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (TX-ISAO).
- Learn how to monitor and analyze cybersecurity alerts from cybersecurity tools.
- Learn up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity vulnerabilities, exploits, and threats.
- Learn cybersecurity incident detection, analysis, and prevention.
- Observe how to maintain up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity vulnerabilities, exploits, and threats.
- Shadow the administration and operations of the Texas Risk and Authorization Management Program (TX-RAMP) for state agencies and institutions of higher education.
- Shadow the administration and management of the statewide Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) program.
- Shadows other programs as needed.

**Qualifications**

**Education**
- Must be a current high school student between the ages of 16 to 18.
- Must possess good standing high school academic records.

**Qualifications**
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cordial working relationships at all organizational levels, including agency management, direct supervisors, co-workers, internal and external customers.
- Ability to understand, follow and convey brief oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to comply with all agency policy and applicable laws.
- Ability to comply with all applicable safety rules, regulations, and standards.

**Computer Skills**
- Proficiency in the use of a computer and applicable software necessary to perform work assignments e.g., word processing, spreadsheets (Microsoft Office preferred).
