**Nature of Work**

***Works with and through management, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability/productivity requirements.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- ** **Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Advises safety director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
- Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices.
- Maintains safety files and records.
- Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
- Assist, set up and conducts training.
- Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
- Assists and maintain environmental reports including storm water permits, SPCC, etc..
- Prefer experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements.
- Excellent computer, communication and training skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.

**Education**
- ** **A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university or equivalent experience.

**Experience**
- ** **Two to five years or more of related work experience required.

**Physical Demands**
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Normal office environment with periods of time spent on construction sites and occupied customer facilities
- Requires travel to job sites with periods of overnight travel
- Frequent activity: sitting, viewing and typing on computer screen
- Occasional activity: standing, walking long distances, bending, reaching above shoulder, climbing ladders/scaffolding and in/out of ditches/trenches.
- This position may be required to use a ladder and work at tall heights (i.e. roof top, access ladders, scissor-lift, scaffolding)
- Safety-sensitive position that requires extreme focus and attention to safety hazards and safety protocols

**Work Environment**
- ** **Standard project site environment that may include machinery, parts and chemicals. May require protective gear.
