Responsibilities- Manage patient complaints and grievances, as well as our IRIS risk management system.
- Conduct investigations into patient safety issues.
- Provide oversight by performing duties associated with gathering information concerning professional and general liability incidents, actual/potential claims, and lawsuits involving Arizona General Hospital.
- Investigate and analyze actual and potential risks at Arizona General Hospital; assess liability and probability of legal action, and recommend appropriate actions to minimize institutional risk.
- Design performance measurements reflecting effective risk management, data analysis, trend identification, facilitating problem solving, and reporting to organizational leadership on same.
- Schedule nursing staff to specific shifts taking into account past utilization trends.
- Measure employee performance.
- Assist in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
- Coordinate the activities of the unit during a particular shift and direct, organize, and assign work to the nursing staff.
- Assess, monitor, and educate the nursing staff on patient care.
- Institute emergency procedures as necessary.
- Provide nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.
We offer an Education Benefit program for benefit-eligible employees after 180 days. This program provides debt relief and student loan assistance to help you achieve your goals. Full-time employees can receive up to $18,000 over five years, while part-time employees can receive up to $9,000. Advanced Practice Providers and Faculty Physicians can receive up to $90,000 if full-time and hired within a year of completing their residency or fellowship. Part-time providers can receive up to $45,000.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or additional job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a related/similar position.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience required.
- Demonstrated sound decision-making ability and able to operate well under pressure in related situations.
- Demonstrated cooperative spirit in working with others to seek problem resolution, while also being tenacious at resolving difficult situations.
- Possesses working knowledge of appropriate questioning approach, detection of problems or opportunities, organization of information, and determination of appropriate levels of information distribution, and facilitation of necessary improvements.
- Working knowledge of healthcare-related regulatory requirements including at least Medicare/CMS COPS, Arizona hospital licensure, and Joint Commission.
- Unencumbered AZ RN license preferred.
- Certification in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.
