**Description**

The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources. This position is with our CDR-Regulatory, Policy, & Mapping program area.

**Essential Job Elements**
- Using applicable tools, collects, organizes, and analyzes data from a variety of data sources - particularly US Census and American Communities Survey data - required in the development of plans, programs, action plans, amendments, reports, policies, and business solutions while also overseeing and conducting the collection, compilation, validation, reporting, presentation, analysis and interpretation of statistical data.
- Creates maps, graphs, or diagrams using Geographic Information System (GIS) software and related equipment and utilizes information and geographic data from CDR division and outside sources, determines the quality of the data, and converts data for critical agency projects to assist in management decision-making.
- Provides input on the development of policies and procedures for implementing plans or programs and utilizes tools to measure and track progress.
- Researches and analyzes local, state, and national trends; policy issues; and proposed legislation, regulations, or rules to determine impact.
- Contributes to the development of complex reports, studies, research projects, and other technical documents and makes presentations.
- Contributes to statewide and localized plans, projects, or programs for the Community Development and Revitalization division.
- Provides technical assistance to the public, developers, and contractors, and to local, regional, or state entities while also providing technical assistance to the Community Development and Revitalization division staff.
- Participates in technical, policy, and interagency planning meetings.
- As it relates to the position, obtain proficiency in TIGR necessary to input and subsequently manage CDBG-DR and CDBG-MIT programs and program budgets contained in GLO action plans and action plan amendments as required by CDR Management.

**Qualifications**

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in city or regional planning, economics, business or public administration, political science, public policy, Geographic Information System (GIS), or a related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
- Planner III - 2 (Two) or more years of experience in planning, data analysis, geographic information systems, and research work, or in areas related to planning, document and report development, preparing and reviewing budgets, and technical writing.
