**Position overview**
**Position title**: Ocean Sciences Pre-Lecturer

**Salary range**: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $9,602 - $10,807 (based on salary points 5-9). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

**Percent time**: Variable, based on the course load assigned.

**Anticipated start**: Appointments are contingent on the hiring units instructional need and the availability of funding. **This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2024 through fall quarter 2025.** Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.

**Position duration**: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

**Position Description**

These courses are designed to meet campus general education requirements; standard texts and/or readers may be used for these classes. Teaching assistants (TAs) may be assigned to assist instructors and will be supervised by the instructor.

All areas and subspecialties of ocean and marine sciences and ecology will be seriously considered. Applicants with evidence of teaching (including TA) experience at the university level and/or proven undergraduate teaching skills are strongly encouraged to apply.

**Qualifications**

Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in ocean sciences, marine sciences, atmospheric sciences, or a related field.
