**JOB FUNCTION**

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
- Manage, design, monitor, and improve workflow and processes within and between assigned HIM operations areas.
- Ensure daily staffing alignment for paper and electronic medical record processing workloads; maintain schedules, productivity turnaround timeframes, and mandates for assigned staff.
- Escalate issues impacting workload, department efficiency, and discussions impacting changes to department operations and staffing.
- Coordinate IPRO, ADR, and other third-party requests for medical records; ensure, logging, copying, and submission to Patients' Accounts or third-party requestors.
- Liaison with Risk Management, Quality Management, Finance and other departments regarding audits and medical record requests.
- Analyze hospital inpatient and/or outpatient encounters for missing documentation and signatures; enter appropriate documentation deficiencies in the EMR.
- Investigate and reconcile medical record information; report pertinent findings and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, duplicate MRNs and other matters requiring chart correction.
- Intervene, investigate and resolve issues and complaints related to patient requests for information and any delays involving time-sensitive regulatory requests.
- Update policy and procedure manual to ensure compliance with Hospital, Joint Commission and regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction including employees, patients, visitors, faculty, referring physicians and external stakeholders.
- Ensure timely logging of fetal monitoring strips; ensure backup is provided for daily processing.
- Attends staff, Leadership and other meetings as directed; follows LMMHC and HIM safety and disaster programs.
- Prepare correspondence, reports and statistical data as needed.
- Approve employee requests for leave; timesheet approval/management.
- Train HIM staff, complete performance evaluations, conduct disciplinary action and process employee reports.
- HIM Work Queue management and Dashboard monitoring to ensure timely completion of records/accounts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Community Health, Psychology or related discipline with one year of full-time experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity in business management systems, general administration, health care and medical/patient systems administration; or,

2. A satisfactory combination of education, training and experience.
