**General Summary**

Provides support for patient safety activities for the health system. Coordinates functions of the patient safety department to include but not limited to supporting data and report management, coordinating various aspects of day-to-day operations required for a successful organization-wide patient safety program.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Essential Functions**:

- Coordinates day to day operations of the patient safety department.
- Maintains established resources related to departmental policies and guidelines, objectives, and improvement activities, including facilitating patient safety policy approval and ensuring timely renewals.
- Ensures that patient safety team has accessible, updated standard work.
- Serves as resource for patient safety team and users across the system in utilization of the patient safety event reporting system.
- Serves as a backup to the system event reporting administrator, upon request.
- Monitors, organizes, reviews, and completes reports and presentations summarizing patient safety events and survey data. Compiles data for and prepares regularly scheduled or special reports, analyses, and statements. These reports include data summary (numerical description) and business summary (narrative of conclusions).
- Assists in implementation, sustainment, and evaluation of patient safety-related programs.
- Coordinates virtual huddle board platform for department use for tiered huddles, as needed.
- Prepares reports and other materials for entity Patient Safety Committees.
- Coordinates/manages special projects and prepares reports and records as directed.
- Promotes and contributes to a positive, problem-solving environment and completes projects in a timely and dependable manner. Responds to time-sensitive requests, some of which may require work outside of normal business hours.
- Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
- Attends meetings and records minutes, as required.
- Assists with additional department administrative functions, as required.
- Maintains sensitive and confidential materials and information.

**Common Expectations**:

- Maintains departmental reports and records and collects data for administrative and regulatory purposes. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
- Serves as a positive role model in all aspects of the team’s responsibilities.

- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations, learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize process and “error proof” systems that will lead to increased safety, and participating in safety education programs and root case analyses as required
- Administers/coordinates programs, projects, and/or processes as assigned.

**Travel Requirements**:

- Estimated Amount: - Occasional travel to WSH facilities.

**Qualifications**

**Minimum Education**:

- Associates Degree Required
- Bachelors Degree In healthcare related field or business administration. Preferred

**Work Experience**:

- 3 years Business Administration experience. Required

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Works independently and exercises independent judgment and discretion.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Medical terminology.
- Project management skills and knowledge of spreadsheet and other software programs.
- Excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
