**Position Summary**

The Grants Manager oversees all grants and contracts submissions for the agency and is responsible for developing proposals, letters and reports to meet all funder requirements, identifying and researching new sources of government and corporate/foundation funding and maintaining relationships with funders. The position works with program staff to assess the potential of new funding from government and private sources and with finance staff to develop budgets and ensure accurate reporting.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

***_Grants Submissions and Reporting _**
- Prepare and submit proposals and reports to all funders, including government, United Way, private corporations and foundations per grants calendar.
- Write annual boiler plates (proposal, report, LOI, cover letter templates, etc.) and customize materials as needed to align with funder priorities and requirements. Work with program administrators and others to develop project ideas and prepare proposals, reports and budgets for specific programs or projects.
- Work with the finance department to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Work with the Development Director and Chief Executive Officer to develop a funding plan that aligns with and supports agency strategic priorities.
- Work with Program Data Manager to gather accurate data for grants and reports.
- Create an annual calendar of report deadlines as requested/required by funder and inform other staff in a timely fashion to obtain needed input.
- Monitor deadlines and progress of requests and required submissions in Raiser's Edge.

***_Funder and Program Officer Relationships_**
- Assist in scheduling, planning and hosting funder site visits and off-site funder meetings.
- Maintain close contact with funders and cultivate personal relationships; track communications in Raiser's Edge.
- Twice yearly funder newsletter.

***_New Funding Opportunities Research and Development_**
- Assess new opportunities for private funding.
- Research new corporate and foundation funding opportunities.
- Review periodicals and visit Candid.org and other similar nonprofit support organizations and internet sites to identify and research new sources.

**Qualifications and Requirements**

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Required Licensure and/or Certification: N/A

Job Experience: Minimum 2 years working in institutional giving in a nonprofit organization, including preparation and submission of grant proposals and managing relationships with corporate and foundation partners required. Minimum 1 year of research/data analysis experience preferred. Donor database experience required; Raiser's Edge preferred. Successful and proven experience with grant writing required. Budget development and monitoring preferred.

Special Knowledge & Skills: Excellent writing, editing and research skills, as well as strong verbal and interpersonal skills; knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies, as well as best practices in individual and institutional donor stewardship; excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel; experience with donor databases, including reporting; ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines; self-starter who can initiate, implement and complete projects; familiarity with Chicago's philanthropic community; commitment to excellence and a passion for the mission and services of Deborah's Place.
