General Summary:

The Grant Manager is responsible for the development and submission of government, foundation, and corporate grant applications as assigned. This role will take the lead on a portion of the agency grant portfolio, managing applications, reports, and renewals. The Grant Manager will also support research and prospecting. The position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Development and Communications but collaborates with all members of the Fund Development Team as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Interface and Service

  • Preparation of letters of inquiry, proposals, research, budgets, reports, ancillary materials, general agency information, editing proposals for errors and inconsistencies and proposal submissions.
  • Serve as contract liaison between the agency and state and local government agencies and foundation funders as assigned. Work with program and accounting staff to prepare documents for review/approval by agency stakeholders and submission to funders.


Stakeholder Outreach and Recruitment
  • Plan in-person or virtual site visits for potential funders. Schedule appointments for Leadership Team members, as needed, Program Managers and Development staff with potential funders. Manage existing grants by tracking; develop internal reporting systems; writing reports, maintaining excellent historical records.
  • Research both locally and nationally to identify corporate and foundation prospects based on Safers priorities and core programs by reviewing web sites, annual reports, and Form 990s; assess their giving priorities, giving histories, and relationships.
  • Assist in researching private and corporate funding prospects.
Tracking, Document, and Reporting
  • Manage existing grants by tracking; develop internal reporting systems; writing reports, maintaining excellent historical records.
  • Monitor websites and prospecting software to identify new federal, state, county & city funding opportunities.
  • Receive and record individual and corporate contributions, prepare letters of acknowledgement for tax reporting purposes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • A proven track record of successful proposal development and funding capture at foundation, state, or federal level.Knowledge of Proposal Development, Funding Research, and Foundation/Corporate solicitations. Salesforce or other CRM experience required. Experience with Instrumentl or other prospecting software a plus.


Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree in English, Communications, Social Work, or related field with 5 or more years of experience in Proposal Development, Funding Research, and Foundation/Corporate solicitations. Salesforce or other CRM experience required. Experience with Instrumentl or other prospecting software a plus.

Licenses and or Certifications: APMP, CFRE, or PMP Certification Required.
