**Programmer II (SAS Reporting Specialist)**

The SAS Reporting Specialist performs complex (journey-level) computer programming work. Work involves analyzing data systems to develop software and produce reports; documenting the methods and procedures used in software development; and testing, correcting, and revising software. May provide guidance to others. Works under the Director of Information Management Services (IMS) with general supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

**This position**:

- Writes code in the SAS Windowing Environment using relational databases to develop original statistical reports and troubleshoot or enhance existing reports. Works with large datasets of over 1 million records using advanced SAS programming, including: PROC EXPORT, PROC FORMAT, PROC FREQ, PROC PRINT, PROC REPORT, PROC SQL, PROC TABULATE, the SAS macro language, and ODS output, especially ODS output to Excel using the ExcelXP tagset.
- Helps analyze proposed programming projects in terms of requirements, capabilities and time management; and provides technical assistance and advice to other programmers.
- May meet with program area users to gather, define and validate business requirements necessary for the development of specifications or programming work.
- Helps coordinate, design, and maintain the integration of data from various systems to the SAS data warehouse through ETL processes.
- Adheres to programming standards, database documentation, and business rules while working with programmers, end-users, and other staff to define project requirements; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**This position requires**:

- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or in a field relative to assignment.
- Requires one year of experience working with relational databases.
- Education and experience relevant to position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

**Preferences for this position include**:

- Experience with advanced SAS or SQL programming; and
- Experience working with the Division of Workers’ Compensation data.
