**Position Definition**:
Under general direction of a higher-level academic manager, manages up to several small educational services programs or projects for a college. Manages and evaluates assigned supervisors, faculty and staff, in conformance with appropriate policies and procedures.

**Distinguishing Characteristics**:
An Academic/Student Services Manager is the first level of academic management in the District and serves as an administrator overseeing up to several small educational services programs or projects for a college. In contrast, the higher level class of Senior Academic/Student Services Manager is expected to oversee a medium to large program/project or several small and medium programs/projects.

**Examples of Duties/Essential Functions**:

**EDUCATION**:
Earned Masters degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university. Certain programs may require a specific major as required by law.

**EXPEREINCE**:
Equivalent to at least three (3) years of full-time instructional, student, and/or other relevant support services experience.

License/Certification: A valid Class C California Drivers License.
- Knowledge Of:_
Computer-based technology for management of assigned program/project; the goals of shared governance; principles and practices of administrative organization and management, planning, supervising and evaluating the work of others, employee motivation and training; applicable federal, state, local, District and college laws, rules and regulations, and collective bargaining contract provisions; complex business level English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; modern office tools such as computers and printers; typical modern office computer software programs; report and presentation writing.

**Desirable Qualifications**:

- Experience with grant funded programs and project management.
- Ability to develop and implement high impact programs for Latine and low-income student success at HSIs.
- Passion for racial equity and social justice. Experience working with diverse cultures within the West Contra Costa County communities (or similar communities).
- Experience working with students and staff to support their intersectional identities, including those from the LGBTQ+ community.
- Knowledge of California Community Colleges student success efforts including Guided Pathways and Student Equity and Achievement Program.
- Skills in budget development and financial record keeping_._
- Familiarity with state and federal compliance requirements and regulations.
- Experience using disaggregated data to inform programming, track progress, and assess impact.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing culturally relevant strategies to increase enrollment, retention, and completion.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dual enrollment best practices.
- Experience with general principles and practices of supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to create sense of community and belonging.
- Demonstrated leadership skills working within participatory governance processes.
- Ability to create a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams of stakeholders, including members from the external community.

**Special Instructions**:
Under general direction of the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Equity, the HSI Director will oversee the HSI Social Justice Grant programs and initiatives.

**NOTE**:New employees will be placed at the first step which is $113,664 per year, second step $119,424 per year or third step at $125,460 per year (depending upon experience). Based on current salary placement guidelines, all step increases for which an employee becomes eligible shall take place on July 1st of each fiscal year. These increases will occur, on annual basis, until the maximum step of $138,480 per year is reached on the salary schedule.
