This is a part-time position that will assist with the San Bernardino Valley College's Middle College Program. The successful candidate will work directly with students to provide academic support services, participate in staff meetings, and assist with program activities.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in staff meetings, partner collaboration, training, and staff events.
- Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of Middle College Program activities.
- Work directly with students to provide various academic support services, including tutoring, assisting with form completion, and facilitating workshops.
- Manage a caseload to meet Middle College High School (MCHS) performance standards.
- Provide continuous mentorship and guidance to MCHS students.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability issues.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Develop a rapport with students to encourage and foster an ongoing college culture.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships involving interactions and communications with a variety of individuals and/or groups from diverse backgrounds.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
- Have completed 30 college semester units or more.
- Ability and desire to work with and mentor a diverse group of high school students.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 2 years of full-time related experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication, and typing skills.
- Experience working with middle school, high school, and young adult age students.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer functions.
This is a part-time position, 15 hours a week. The successful candidate must be available between 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. a minimum of two days a week.
