**Education Requirements**:
Recommend: High school diploma plus experience in behavioral or mental health.

**Preferred Education Requirements**:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare or other related field. Experience working within behavioral health, substance abuse c are or mental health care with individuals, families or children. Experience working within an office, clinic or environment where customer service was 80-90% of your job duties.
- Customer Service skills - an empathetic, active listener, who has strong follow through skills.
- Knowledge of Insurance and healthcare billing practices.
- De-Escalation - at times, you will take calls from individuals in a crisis of some kind, the ability to utilize de-escalation skills in those situations is key.
- Critical thinking skills - the ability to think creatively, problem solve, work independently, and identify the issues a patient may be calling in regards to and how to best address their question or concern.
- Interest in Mental Health - education, training or exposure to the industry or personal experience working with individuals who have a mental health diagnosis.
- Able to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and sensitive material.
- Initiate, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail

**Position Summary of Some Duties**:

- Answer patient phone calls in a timely and courteous manner
- Accurately schedule and educate patients on appropriate services and next step expectations prior to assignment of a therapist
- Will need to learn and efficiently be able to operate within our EHR system
- Therapy Notes
- Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
- Conducts patient interviews and completes new client form, in person or by telephone, to collect accurate financial, biographic and demographic information. Understands patient insurance information and correctly enters that information into the system.
- Explains financial requirements to the patient or responsible party and collects deposits or deductibles as required. Explains insurance coverages and requirements for pre-certification/preauthorization, as applicable.
- Relays medical information to the clinical team to allow them to provide exceptional patient care.
- Effectively triage requests and communicate with Directors
- Verify and update patient demographic information at each scheduling interaction (address, phone number, insurance, and any additional insurance policies)
- Communicate scheduling outcomes with referral sources in keeping with scheduling policy and partner relationships
- Follow all office and scheduling policies and procedures
- Handle patient complaints and concerns and escalate to the Directors when appropriate
- Report number of referrals daily, monthly.
- Promptly complete other duties as assigned
- especially any required communication to our partners
- Collegial and teamwork attitude with all staff and patients
- Keep office space orderly
- Attend monthly meetings and any and all mandatory trainings.
- Assist with office coverage as needed
- Commit to position for minimum of 1 year

- Experience working in health care facilities preferred

- Positive attitude and ability to be flexible
- Keep all business information strictly confidential
- Must be proficient in use of computers
- Must be able to work full time with scheduled office hours of 40 hours per week
- An interest in psychology, counseling, the behavioral sciences, social work, or healthcare is strongly preferred
